North Shore

Gooseberry falls.  This was our first sightseeing stop on our trip up the north shore last week.  We had to convince the kids we should stop and not just drive straight to the hotel.
An upper ledge the kids got to go on to check out the water fall better
Two years ago we took a picture like this with the three kids. . .now we added Avery's strength to hold up the rock! See below:)
Taking a small hike around the falls
Trying to get a picture of Dan and I.  Avery couldn't be too far away:)
Walking up the rushing water
Our second stop was a look out over Lake Superior.  Many instructions were given about running. . .very steep cliffs!  Beautiful views!
Avery and Me checking out that view!
Caleb points to what he thinks is Duluth.  We are about 1 1/2 hours north of Duluth just north of Silverbay.  This picture looks extremely dangerous, but it wasn't as bad as it looks.:)
Kylie looking so cuteOur next stop was Tetaguech (sorry for the horrible spelling) state park.  We decided to take a hike to some more waterfalls.  We weren't very prepared for this impromptu hike we decided to take at 12:30 in the heat of the day with only 2 water bottles along.  We were dripping with sweat and had to deal with some complaining, but the 3 older kids made the 3 mile hike (round trip) without stopping for the most part!  Avery maybe walked 10 feet. . .not ideal.  After walking 1.5 miles to get there, the kids pretty much soaked themselves in the cool water and played which really helped us make it back!  We were pretty impressed with their perserverence!Avery cashed out just before we arrived and took a short catnap in the shade with me.This is what happens after the hike in the car. This is what happens to keep Avery occupied in the car. . .first try sunglasses, next some sticky candy, then popcorn that she doesn't like so she throws it around and has it stick to different body parts.  Last stop, Duluth--throwing rocks in the water at Canal Park.

Beautifully clear waters. . .very cold but felt great on the hot day!
Right before heading home! Next vacation hot spot. . .camping:)
